Memories

If I were to think back of the most distinct memory I have of Patti, it would be of her laughing hysterically sitting on the sofa, watching a black and white Tamil movie and screaming out my name, asking me to share the joy she found in that (ridiculous) joke on Sun Tv. I never ever remember finding any of those movies funny. I only remember her laughter. Her laughter was contagious. There were these numerous other times when she would empty the entire concoction of coffee into milk and laugh to herself claiming what a funny being she was! well, to me, she was perfect. For the 18 odd years I have lived with her, we have laughed, cried, abused each other, but not once in these years have we ever lost faith in the other. Everytime I fought with my father, I would scream saying my patti and I will move out to a separate house... and she sighed claiming what a stupid girl I was. The most curious person I have ever met, some afernoons, instead of sleeping, she would spend her time reading Horticulture books which belonged to my dad and my Physics text books, which till date I have never understood, but I know for a fact, even with those broken glasses, she derived more from that text book than I ever did. As a kid, I was pretty sure that if I ever wanted something badly, all I had to do was mention it in front of Patti. In just two days, that huge dream that I thought I would never possess would be mine. Everytime I borrowed a friends shirt, I would ask ONLY patti to wash it, to make sure I returned it to my friend 'sparkly' clean. Everytime I lost something, all I had to do was mention it to her, and the search mission would be started all day and night. I would tire looking for it, but using a small torch at night, she would still be looking for it. Never selfish, never lazy, never ill-hearted, a lady who I believe is ONE in trillion to the power of infinity is my patti. I miss you and you were my best friend. Thank you for everything. I wish to make you proud someday. May your soul rest in peace.
